Geographical Location
Taiwan is the largest island in China, which is about 36,000 square . Topographically, this island is high in the east and low in the west.
The Taiwan Strait, which is a key international marine traffic spot, presents as a media that connects the East China Sea in the North and the South China Sea in the South
Different from many other provinces, Taiwan is a ocean island province and it is made up by about 80 islands.

Geomorphology
Taiwan is a mountainous island. More than two thirds of the total area is covered by mountains and hills. The mountains are mostly in the east part, the hills are mostly in the middle of the island and the plains are in the west. There are five great mountain ranges, four vast plains and 3 big basins in Taiwan. And Mount Jade with its peak at 3,952 meters above the sea levels is the highest mountain in the east part of China. Taiwan Island is located in the Central Pacific seismic belt and volcanic belt, which results in the unstableness of the earth’s crust.

Climate
Subject to the regulation of maritime monsoon, the climate in Taiwan is neither too cold in winter nor too hot in summer, with abundant rainfall all year around. But there are some typhoon and storms in summer and autumn. The tropic of Cancer cuts through Taiwan, it has a tropical climate in the north and subtropical climate in the south. The average annual temperature is about 22℃ and the average annual precipitation is about 2,000 mm.
The summer months are between April and November, generally July is the hottest month in a year. The average summer temperature is about 28℃.
The winter months are between December to the following March. Generally, February is the coldest moth in a year. The lowest temperature is about 15℃ and the average winter temperature is around 20℃. It is likely that Taiwan has four seasons of spring.

Population
Based on the statics, the population in Taiwan by August 1998 was about 2.1 million. And the population is increasing at a rate around 7.31 % per year. Most of the population is distributed in the Western Plains, and there is only about 4% of the total population living in the east. This island has a population density of 568.83 people per square kilometer.
Among all the Taiwan Residents, the Han Population is about 98 % and the rest Minority population is only about 2 % (380,000). And based on the languages and customers, the Minority population are subdivided into 9 groups

FoodCulture
The famous Taiwan food, spectacular seafood and the popular gongfu tea were developed.
Taiwan has got a variety of its specific snacks. Such as the tempura in the Keelung’s Miaokou, Keelung’s Miaokou.
