SOLVENT AND PH EFFECT
ON THE ABSORPTION
AND FLUORESCENCE SPECTRA OF
5-[(2,3-DIHYDROXYBENZALIDENE)-AMINO] NAPHTHALENE-2-SULFONIC ACID
Abstract
To investigate the solvent effect, we measured the absorption spectra using the mixture of DMSO and ethanol. Also, the excitation spectra of DMSO-deionized water. The larger the ratio of DMSO, the greater the absorbance and the intensity. At various pH, the absorption and fluorescence spectra were measured and it was concluded that the results at pH 9.45 was the best. Therefore, the effect of several tripositive cation was conducted at pH 9.45. As anticipated, the spectra were shown to become very different when the metal ions(Al3+, Cr3+, Fe3+) were mixed to the ligand solution (solvent), ethanol: H2O= 4:1).
