Introduction
As we can see its advertising, the company FedEx made famous slogans "Absolutely, positively" and "Relax, it's FedEx". With developing world market, Federal Express Corporation(FedEx Corp.) has been successful by pursuing efficient logistics and providing various related services. It became the premier global provider of transportation, e-commerce and supply chain management services. Being interested with its successful operating, we decided to analyze FedEx Corp.
What is FedEx?
FedEx is a leading logistics services company. The company was founded as Federal Express in 1971 by Fred Smith in Little Rock, Arkansas. The company moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1973 after Little Rock airport officials would not agree to provide facilities for the fledgling company's airplanes. Now headquarter is located in Memphis, Tenn. The principal officers are Frederick W. Smith, Chairman, President and CEO Robert B. Carter, Executive Vice President, FedEx Information Services and CIO T. Michael Glenn, Executive Vice President, Market Development and Corporate Communications. The company offers integrated business solutions through a network of subsidiaries operating independently, including FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company; FedEx Ground, North America’s second largest provider of small-package ground delivery service; FedEx Freight, a leading provider of regional less-than-truckload freight services; FedEx Custom Critical, the world’s largest provider of expedited, time-critical shipments; and FedEx Trade Networks, a provider of customs brokerage, consulting, information technology and trade facilitation solutions.
