That sounds interesting! But, if you want to have gorgeous weekend, you have to finish this chapter. Do you know that this class will be the last class for this chapter, lesson4?



So, we will review the format of diary, past forms of verbs and we also check the vocabularies and expressions we've learnt.
Okay, let's start. Do you remember the diary that we read as a further reading last class?

(학생들이 모를 경우) All right, I will explain who the writer and the background of the diary is.
(학생들이 알 경우) Good job! You are really smart! For your better understanding, I will explain about Anne Frank and the background of her diary.
Please look at the screen. The girl of the picture is Anne Frank. You might heard of '안네의 일기'. That book is a collection of her diaries and the diary that we read last class is from this book. She and her family had to hide from the Nazis to avoid death as they were Jewish. The diary was written while she was hiding. Do you understand who is Anne Frank?

Than, let's look at the next slide. Are you familiar with it?


You should! Because you read it last class. So I will not translate sentence by sentence. The first thing we will do is to know the format of a diary. In fact, there are no fixed rules as diary is very private writing. But you have to know one thing. It is the way of writing date. In English writing, you should put small things first. So day comes first, then month, and year comes after and last.
All right, that's it! Isn't it easy?



After you write the date, you can write anything, like your feelings, weather, things you did and so on. Ok, then, let's take a look what Anne wrote in her diary! As I said we will not read this article again, the thing we gonna do is to find out verbs and to check its past forms.
Let's start! What is the first verb you can see?

Right! The first verb is 'woke up' which means '일어나다'. But do you notice that there is a difference?



You surely know 'woke' is the past form of 'wake', as you learnt irregular verbs in grammar section. Let's move to next verb. What is the second verb?

Good job! Next verb is 'was' which is the past form of 'am or is'.
Who can tell what is the third verb?


Excellent! The third verb is 'stayed'. But 'stay' is regular verb, so you just put '-ed' after the present form.
Ok, ooo(집중하지 않는 학생을 지목), tell us next verb.

You're right! The next verb is ‘went’. And its present form is go.
All of you did really a good job, and I will find out the last verb. It is 'received', right?

receive' is also regular verb so you just put '-ed'.
