Chemical compound with the formula CH2Cl2
Colorless, volatile liquid with a moderately sweet aroma.
Immiscible with water but dissolves in most organic solvents.
Widely used as a solvent. Also used as a paint stripper, degreaser, and is used to decaffeinate coffee.
One of the least toxic chlorohydrocarbons, but because of its high volatility, iit could be hazardous if iinhaled. can be carcinogenic and is also metabolised to carbonmonoxide when inhaled, so this chemical should be dealt with care.
