What is the Bio-fuel ?
- Bio-fuel is derived from biological materials which are commonly plant materials used. The purpose is to make a “sustainable transportation fuel” from biomass.
What is Bio-ethanol ?
- Bio-ethanol has been produced from biological source.
- It is produced in fermentation of sugars in the brewing industry. In this process glucose is converted into ethanol.

- When bio-ethanol is burnt, producing the heat energy and releasing CO2 and water.

- Bio-ethanol is regarded as one of the main bio-fuels for application in the world transport section.

Usage and Advantage

Use of bio-ethanol
Bio-fuel : Bio-ethanol can be used as an additive or substitute for gasoline in automobile engines, but it requires specially modified engine.
Solvent : Bio-ethanol can be used as an industrial solvent for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, resins, etc.
Intermediate of chemical products
The liquor business.
Advantages of bio-ethanol
Economy
- Bio-ethanol can be a replacement for fossil fuels.
- Governments will become less reliant on foreign petroleum imports.
Environment
- It doesn’t add the greenhouse gas. The CO2 released by the combustion of bio-ethanol is re-absorbed by agriculture for the bio-ethanol feedstock.
