The History of Smart Phone
The distinctiveness of recent mobile phone market is, the availability of mobile phone that consists of its original functions such communication and sending messages and also consisting of MP3P and DSC(Digital Still Camera). Convergence tendency of IT function aims at mobile phone because mobile phone provides the more simplicity in communication, for example, an ability to remove the limitation of time and space, compared to IT equipments like, MP3P or Digital Camera that reflect on an individual's taste, therefore there is more necessities. Also, the fact that, as the rise of the communication service user is congested, the demand of new regulation is congested as well is another factor that contributed to the expansion of the mobile phone's technical capacity and the tendency toward convergence.
The origin of Smart Phone is the combination of the mobile PC and mobile phone, but now it can take in the functions of MP3P and DSC as well as other applications like DMB and Wibro and therefore showing a capability of becoming a blue ocean that can take over already existing mobile phone market, a market that has a potential of long-term growth.
There is PDA phone which is similar to Smart Phone in concept but they have different origins as while PDA included PIMS(Personal Information Management System), PDA with a high quality of Computing function, wireless internet and communication function, Smart Phone has a form of a communication based mobile phone with combination of other functions like wireless internet and computing system. Although Smart Phone is sound centered mobile terminal equipment, it functions based on OS and it has a special characteristic of specializing in music, video, gaming, pictures, browsing, mobile TV, navigation or messaging. Especially, there was a belief that it could become a substitution for PC as it has a large display based on touchscreen and a qwerty keyboard, but it is receiving more spotlights by competing with MID(Mobile Internet Device) and Netbook for being a terminal equipment capable of wireless integration.
