• Rise and Fall of Ssangyong
Ssangyong Motor is great progress since the 1970's. SsangYong Motor Company has increased the capital of 15 billion won in 1980. Ssangyong Motor Co. also merged Geohwa and expanded the factory at Pyeongtaek in1985.
In 1991 it started a technology partnership with Daimler-Benz. In 1987, it acquired United Kingdom-based specialty car maker Panther West winds. Ssangyong has been incredible growth until 1996.
But 1997-1998, we went through the economic crisis because of IMF situation. After the economic crisis IMF Ssangyong workout program begins in 1999. Ssangyong was also building its own sales network was developed at the same time a new car. Ssangyong growing to be an amazing advancement from 15 to 1200 billion won during 50 years in 2003. But Ssangyong sold out by Shanghai motors. Since 2009, Ssangyong begin Turnaround process and have been many efforts to revive the company. 2.1 The reason of SYM first bankruptcy
• SSangyong Group's excessive investment in the fields of automobile
In 1988, SSangyong Motors became a major manufacturer after its release of a four-wheel-drive vehicle 'Korando Family'. With the success of the 'Korando Family', SSangyong Motors began technical cooperation with major German automobile manufacturer Benz in January, 1991 in order to produce four-wheel-drive vehicles along with van, compact automobiles, and diesel engine to grow the size of their company. However, when Hyundai Motors released Galloper in 1992 and sold out over 23.7 thousand, SSangyong Motors lost its lead in the four-wheel-drive motor industries and sold out 16 thousand vehicles, 3.4 thousand less than the year before.
