TV on Obesity
A growing body of research suggests the importance of identifying the mechanisms by which Social Economic Status (SES) links early-life risk factors to later-life health.
Ferraro and Kelly-Moore found that obesity was a turning point in the health of adults. They found that obesity had long-term effects on disability: exceeding the body mass index threshold of 30 was associated with premature disability for both men and women.
As we have researched, low-SES => higher addiction to TV
=> higher obesity => bad for later-life health
TV & Divorce
Divorce, which is becoming more universally accepted due to television programs, can be thought to have a negative influence on the life-course of family members.
Personal relationships which are fundamental for a normal life are lost for parents and children in the process of divorce and remarriage, and individuals who need various support systems in their elderly years are not receiving the help.
Quadagno’s research on divorce shows that divorce is not simply a means of cancelling the married relationship but that it also plays a role in dismantling relationships between in-laws, which leads to the breaking up of many social relationships.
