1, Veil

1) Meaning of veil
A veil is an article of clothing, worn almost exclusively by women, that is intended to cover some part of the head or face. One view is that as a religious item, it is intended to show honor to an object or space.
Use: For centuries, women have worn sheer veils, but only under certain circumstances. They would have been used, as an alternative to a mask, as a simple method of hiding the identity of a woman who was traveling to meet a lover, or doing anything she didn't want other people to find out about. More pragmatically, veils were also sometimes worn to protect the complexion from sun and wind damage (when un-tanned skin was fashionable), or to keep dust out of a woman's face, much as the keffiyeh is used today.

2) Type of veil

①Burqa (chadri)
*Nations: Afghanistan, North Western Pakistan, India
The full Afghan chadri covers the wearer's entire body except for a small region about the eyes, which is covered by a concealing net or grille.

②Chador
*Nations: Iran
A chador is an outer garment or open cloak worn by many Iranian women in public spaces. A chador is a full-length semicircle of fabric open down the front, which is thrown over the head and held closed in front. It has no hand openings or closures but is held shut by the hands or by wrapping the ends around the waist.
