본문내용
What Is A Tropical Rainforest?
DEFINITION:
A tropical rainforest is a place roughly within 28 degrees north or south of the equator.
In general, a rainforest is a forested area that receives over 60 inches of rain per year.
(*Specific types of rainforest are labeled in terms of their elevation and average temperature.)

CLIMATE
A Minimal difference between seasonal temperature. (*ONLY about 10 degrees)
High humidity is the main cause of high temperatures and the abundant rainfall.

SOIL

THE GENERAL ASSUMPTION:
The abundant of rich habitats come from fertile soil!
WRONG!
Tropical rainforests grow in nutrient-poor soil which is only two to three inches deep.
THEN WHY?
The roots of many plants spread over large areas quickly capture nutrients released by decaying plant and animal matter before the nutrients can be leached from the soil.
THEREFORE!
More nutrients are found in the living plants of the rainforest than in the supporting environment.
