1. Lotte Mart’s Background

1.1 Background History & Development
Lotte Mart is one of the “BIG3” big-box retailers- together with E-Mart, and Homeplus- in Korea, and is currently expanding its stores to other neighboring countries. The lines of commodities sold in Lotte Mart vary greatly from groceries, clothing, toys, to electronics and many others. Although Lotte Mart was a secondary mover in the market, under its profound vision of maximizing customer satisfaction, it has succeeded in providing excellent services throughout the nation by continuously evolving their ways of sales: currently it operates physical department stores as well as online shopping malls.
Lotte Mart is a part of the Korean conglomerate Lotte, and it opened its very first branch on April 1, 1998 at Guui-dong, Gangbyeon, Seoul, Korea. Ever since its launch of its first store, Lotte Mart has fiercely expanded its stores by opening new stores and merging other similar department stores around the country. Currently it holds 93 physical stores in Korea.
