The study was designed to identify the costume and the characteristics of the main goddess in Greek mythology. reviewing literature, pictures, foreign books, and domestic papers, the study set the scope to the period of the most fundamental and important goddess; Hera, Athena, Aphrodite, Artemis, and Demeter. Costume in ancient Greek is so meaningful in that it, as the origin of costume history, gave much influences to the posterity. Greek"s costume is characterized with natural beauty of drape streming down to body line, wrinkles creating dynamic rhythm on the smooth fabrics, and variation by how to put on the cloth. Costume of goddess in the myths was suitable to their position and changing to the era. The goddess were of very aristocratic nature, discerned clearly from each other. Costume of Greek"s goddess in many works of art show goddess in various and different clothing according to the contents of and the role in the myth. |
