|Technological development various forms of digital systems development have brought in many changes also to in-vehicle driving environment. Vehicles are being evolved into a comprehensive infortainment space not only for driving but also for the use of various media and contents. Such changes contributed to the generalization of a multitasking that refers to doing multiple different functions at the same time, bringing the need to have a dual-view UI (User Interface) that allows users to operate as they desire. It is pointed out, however, that the use of IVIS while driving is one of the main causes of car accidents by disrupting the driver’s attention, therefore, research into UI minimizing disruption of attention is of great importance. This research aims to propose a UI for an easy operation of the IVIS dual view with minimized motions to keep users’ attention least disrupted under driving environment for safety reason. To attain this objective, examples concerning dual views currently in use were studied through which strengths and weaknesses of individual UI were analyzed. Based on this, what came next was the assumption and design of a LCD likely to be commonly used in domestic technology environment. As a result of evaluating the proposed designs, it turned out that applying an “intuitive touch” method is the most appropriate, thereby, a UI concept was proposed and it was evaluated through the use of paper prototyping. The UI for dual view operation proposed in this research is intuitive and simple in operation and is therefore thought to be ideally used for supporting multi-tasking environment for drivers under safety-prioritized vehicle environment.
