|This study concerns designing and testing a city-tour information system built in a double-deck bus supporting mobile devices for tourists visiting Fukuoka. The focus of review here is put on desirable provision of a tour guide system usable in transit for a certain period of time. In addition, users’ usage behaviour is empirically analysed. In particular, with a view to diversification of tour information content, both passive one-way (push) and active two-way (pull) information services are simultaneously provided and tested to analyze differences. Also, the present study designs and organizes the content in a way to ensure effective and sustainable services. The findings here are hopefully to prove helpful to municipalities and other organizations that wish to adopt tourist information support systems.
