Abstract

국문초록

이 논문의 목적은 철학상담의 중요한 방법론 중 하나로 주목받고 있는 논리기반치료(LBT)의 독자적 의미를 그것의 이론적 모태인 심리상담의 합리적 정서행동치료(REBT)와 비교를 통해 확인하는 것이다. 기존 연구들 중 다수는 논박의 사용으로 대표되는 두 이론 사이의 유사성을 근거로, 혹은 LBT 이론 자체의 내적 한계를 근거로 LBT만의 고유한 가치를 인정하는데 소극적이다. 하지만 본 논문은 치료 이론으로서 LBT가 REBT의 문제점을 일정 부분 극복한 것으로 이해될 수 있다는 점에서 그것의 독자성을 적극적으로 인정한다. REBT는 상대적으로 간명한 치료 이론과 대비되는 실무적용의 어려움이라는 아이러니를 가지고 있다. 필자는 아이러니의 이유가 무엇보다도 REBT의 유형 중심 접근법과 비전문성에 있다고 본다. LBT는 이런 REBT의 한계를 인과적 확인이 아닌 논리적 분석의 활용을 통해, 그리고 심리학 전공자가 아닌 철학 전공자로서의 전문성을 통해 극복하려 한다. 이것이 어떻게 이루어지는지 확인하기 위해 필자는 두 이론의 대표적인 가이드북들을 선택해 진단, 논박, 대안 제시라는 세 관점에서 비교·분석할 것이다.

영문초록

The purpose of this paper is to confirm the unique significance of logic - based therapy (LBT), which is one of the important methodologies of philosophical counseling, by comparing it with REBT of psychological counseling which is regarded as LBT’s theoretical mother. Based on the similarity between the two theories represented by the use of disputes, or the internal limitations of the LBT theory itself, the existing main researches are negative in recognizing the inherent value of LBT alone. However, this paper positively acknowledges its uniqueness in that it can be understood that LBT as a therapeutic theory overcomes REBT’s problem. REBT has an irony that it has a difficulty in practical application as opposed to a relatively simple theoretical system. I think the reason for the irony lies in the type-centered approach and non-professionalism of REBT in particular. LBT can be accepted to overcome the limitations of REBT through the use of logical analysis, not causal confirmation, and through the expertise as a philosophy major, not a psychology major. In order to prove this, I will select and compare the representative guidebooks of the two theories from three perspectives: diagnosis, dispute, and alternative presentation.
