The purpose of this study is to divide subjects into a group that goes through aroma and back lymph drainage and a group that goes through back lymph drainage only for 4weeks and verifying its effect on the changes in attention index and anti-stress index. 15 male and female office workers in their 40s who participated in this study were randomly assigned to the aroma back lymph group and back lymph group that consisted of 8 members each. Then, aroma back lymph drainage program was conducted and changes in cortisol, attention index and stress index were measured before and after the program. Treatments were conducted separately for a group that received both aroma and back lymph drainage, and a group that received back lymph drainage only, for a total of 4 weeks, 2 days per week. SPSSWIN(ver.15.0) statistical program was used to handle and analyze the data, and findings are as follows. As for changes in cortisol, the aroma back lymph group showed a reduction of 5.0% and the back lymph group showed a reduction of 4.32%, which showed that the treatment was effective in relieving stress. However, there were no significant statistical differences. As for changes in attention index in the left brain, the aroma back lymph group showed an average increase of 11.30% and the back lymph group showed an average increase of 16.19%, and numbers were 11.13% for the aroma back lymph group and 23.51% for the back lymph group in the right brain. As for changes in the anti-stress index, the aroma back lymph group showed an increase of 6.03% and the back lymph group showed an increase of 23.34%, and in the right brain, the back lymph group showed an increase of 25.43% after the treatment. However, the aroma back lymph group showed a reduction of 3.17%. According to the results above, a 4-weeks treatment of aroma back lymph and back lymph was shown to be effective by reducing blood stress hormones and increasing attentiveness and immunity levels of brain functions. It is believed that the aroma back lymph drainage can be proposed as a natural stress relieving mediation therapy.
