American society have been experiencing “The Real” since 9/11. They lost the fantasy which concealed the shortcomings of their society because of 9/11. People in America had to face the Real through 9/11. However, they had to pay a high price for it. America declared the War on Terror and tried to repair their image of big brother which had been blemished. The war against terrorism has continued since 9/11 and maybe it seems it will continue indefinitely. America would like to continue holding on to its power with a paranoid attitude and perversion, as a gadget. In this situation, the people in general had to return their liberty to government to save their own liberty, and the people had to forsake their own liberties for the government; they were deprived of their civil rights so as to save their human rights. Now we have to consider the meaning of the war against terrorism. The aim of this war could be "ourselves" and it could also be to mobilize against ethical act. Ultimately the danger is coming from the inside, not from the outside. Derrida made a speech after being awarded the Theodor Adorno Prize and noted that none of us is free from responsibility for the crime of 9/11. The war against terrorism is a new concept of war in the 21st century. It is our duty to consider carefully what to do in this war from now on.
