Objects: We investigated active ingredient of Polygoni multiflori -radix and pharmacological action. To study on the relation between active ingredient and effects of Korean medicine. Methods: We searched books, research paper and internet site in regard to Polygoni multiflori radix. and keywords were searched Polygoni multiflon radix, Polygoni multiflori radix effects, Polygoni multiflori radix component, Polygoni multiflori radix chemical component, Polygoni ffiultiflori radix extract, Polygoni multiflori radix Le, chrysophanol, emodin, emodin-8-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, rhein, physcion, physcion-8-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, (E)-2,3,5,4 , -tetrahydroxystilbene- 2-0-β-D-glucoside, 2,4,6,4`` -tetrahyclroxystilbene -2-0-β-D-glucoside, 2,3,5.4`` -tetrahydroxystilbene-2-0-β-D-glucoside, 2” ,-monogalloyl ester, rhapontin. polydatin, lecithin and dihydroxyligustilide. We investigated Korean medicine effects of Polygoni multif1ori radix, and we found out medical actions related to this. Results: The effect of the active ingredient that has been investigated in the present study, there is a antioxidant, anticancer, anti-bacterial effect, brain-cell protection, anti-inflamatory, vigorousness action, cardiac effect, cartilage cartilage treatment, insulin-sensitive improvement, vasodilator action, cure hyperlipidemia, diuretic effect, lowering cholesterol effect. and The pharmacological action of extract of Polygoni multiflori radix that has been investigated in the present study, there is a anti-osteoporosis, a growth of hair, anti-osteoporosis, anti-inflamatory, antithrombotic effect, antioxidant, a lowering cholesterol effect, atheroprotective effect. The Korean medicine effect of Polygoni multiflori radix is the operation that is “qingrejiedu(淸熱解毒)"" 4jienue(截虐)", “runchangtangbian(潤腸通便)”, “buganshen（補肝腎)" and “yijingxue(益精血)” Conclusion: We find out a correlation with the Korea medicine effect.
