The issue of women` s ordination has been debated among Adventist community since the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Church [GC] made a motion to ordain women to gospel ministry in December 20, 1881. The Spring Meeting of GC in 1975 approved women`s ordination as deaconesses. Also permitted women to be ordained as elders if " the greatest discretion and caution" is exercised. By following this resolution, Korean Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church voted to accept eldership policy for the local churches in 2006. However, the survey on women`s ordination to ministry presented that the local church members of the Korean Adventist Church expressed their positive attitudes toward women`s ministerial works at the local church, such as chair persons of the church boards, institution heads, theology professors, presidents of the local conferences and union conferences and licensed ministers, while majority disfavored women`s ordination to ministry by laying on of hands. In this situation, this paper suggested the General Conference to consider more deeply on the local churches before having the process of decision on women`s ordination for the coming 60th GC Conference Session in 2015.ABSTRACT-The issue of women` s ordination has been debated among Adventist community since the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Church [GC] made a motion to ordain women to gospel ministry in December 20, 1881.
