|Classics is the masterpiece which has universal comprehension of human beings due to its human nature. Readers can learn the universe, and insight into human society from this masterpiece. Furthermore, because the classics itself has its own virtuous value, it can teach the members of modern society to live in more harmonious way with nature and other members of the group. The course ``Classics`` has the purpose to grow virtuous students by educating them with classical texts, Students become perceptive of human nature, acceptive of others, and upright citizens who seek the goal of coexistence. In fact, these kinds of aims can be achieved by developing virtues of humanity. It can be said that achieving the goals of classics would just be what Korean Language Education is seeking of. The course Classics aims at specific goals of other subordinate fields of Korean Language Education Also it trains student`s comprehensive reasoning skills. For the effective management of the course, following details should be considered. First, examining the necessity for the course is essential, Second, textbooks include various kinds of worthy classics in history. Embracing Oriental and Western ones Choosing an appropriate text is crucial when writing the textbook for the course Third, it is required to determine whether to put some part of the text or to put the whole text in the book. Fourth, the portion of the oriental classical text and to that of Western`s should be determined. The oriental one`s ratio up to 60% is desirable. Likewise Korean classics should take 60% of the oriental one`s. Finally. Teachers Who teach Classics must know well about the course. This can be achieved by giving them well-explained teaching guide books. To achieve the goal of Classics course, there are some tasks to overcome, First is the heavy burden on teachers. It is crucial to make well-organized textbook and guidebook so that we can minimize teacher`s burden. Second. There is no enough time for the course so make sure students to read the text first and check it up frequently. If the class is composed of discussion and writing, which needs longer time than the class led only by the teacher him/herself, arranging 2hour-long class would be the one way to cope with this problematic situation. Third, in the circumstance of Korea, it is hard to get away from the influence of entrance exam. In this situation, introducing AP system would be the solution because Classics is also taught in university. By introducing this system, high school student can earn credit before entering university. The final task is difficulty of evaluation. Assessing methods like writing-based test or oral test should be implemented but it should not be so burden-some to teachers.
