In the economy based on knowledge, the source of the evolution of technology is science. So the output of knowledge can be greatly influenced by how adequately science education is performed during the obligatory education period. Recently some researchers asserted Korean middle school students` science proficiency has been lowering so much that the science curriculum should be changed. The purposes of this thesis are to find out the state of our science education through the comparison and analysis with the science curriculum of Singapore and to seek for the methods for our science education to have the competing power like that of Singapore which is one of the leading countries in Asia. The results of this research are as follows. The curriculum courses of secondary school in Singapore are divided into two systems 4-grade and 5-grade one, and they are a kind of tracking system. The 4-grade one is also divided into two: SPECIAL and EXPRESS. The top 10% students in Primary School Leaving Exam(PSLE) are classified as SPECIAL and they are assigned to the gifted schools appointed by the Ministry of Education and 5-grade system which are divided into NORMAL(A) and NORMAL(T) is assigned for the other students. It is a curriculum given differently by ability. The subjects required in Singapore are as follows. In lower secondary(the 1st and 2nd in secondary school), they have 11 subjects which need to be examined, and 6 not to be examined. The number of required classes of science subject per week in Singapore is 6 in the SPECIAL/EXPRESS courses and in the NORMAL(T) course. So it is different according to the student`s ability. And it is fewer in Korea by 1 - 3 classes compared to that of Singapore. In Singapore, science consists of three subjects those are physics, chemistry and biology. While in Korea, it includes above three subject plus earth science. The index of science education of Singapore is 8.727 while Korea is 4.259 and it shows that the Science education is performed positively in Singapore during the obligatory education period and it also shows that the revision of Korea education system is needed.
