|This paper aims to look at the education of Korean in Japan and to express my view about the norms of the Korean language. More and more people in Japan are currently enrolling in the Korean courses, and several problems are facing us. First of all, few jobs are available for university graduates who can speak Korean, and the proficiency of Korean is of little favor to pursue a job. Second, few of the students who enroll in the introductory course in Korean go up to the higher level course in Korean. Excessively difficult norms of Korean lead to this situation. Here, the norms of Korean language are examined in terms of pronunciation, orthography, lexicon, grammar. The suggestion offered is as follows: The pronunciation difficulities, such as tensed consonant, double final consonant, and n ㄴ addition, should be adjusted to reality. The orthographic rules of word spacing should be changed to much easier and simpler state. In lexicon, the plural standard words should be increased drastically. The excessively nomative grammar of Korean should be changed to reality.
