Human`s efficient social activities which were done for no disease, longevity, and happiness accelerated the society of mass production and mass consumption. Increased wastes resulting from mass discharge made the society suffering from environmental pollution problems. Being aware that waste disposal is very important matter, some up-cycled products utilizing wastes have been produced. Unfortunately they have not supported so much from the customers. Only after the combination of social, environment, economic and design factors positively inspire the customers` cognition on up-cycled products, such kinds of products can be consumed. If the consumer`s cognition on wastes made by wastes is changed and the consumption on such products is continued, this study thinks, the resources to be wasted will be recycled to the society and take its role fully, and up-cycling will clearly be considered as an important field for environmental improvement as well as resource saving. Concerning the research method and contents, this study recognized the meanings and status quo of resource exhaust and environmental pollution and drew out the uo-cycling design characteristics through reviewing literature and studying previous researches. The drawn factors were used in drawing important factors for up-cycling through a survey targeting consumers. The collected data was overall analyzed and compared to make the conclusion about the characteristics that up-cycling products should have possessed. Recognizing that new product developers and consumers should lead the up-cycling product industry to overcome the problems of waste increase and resource-recycling limit, this study tried to find out the factors for up-cycling designs, the necessary condition of continual economic circulation. |
