The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of exploration activities mainly for art elements existing at daily life on young children`s art expression. With the purpose mentioned above, the effects of exploration activities for art elements of apartment outdoor space on the young children`s art expression was chosen as a main topic. The study group consisted of 40 5-year-old children (20 in the experimental group, and 20 in the comparison group) attending kindergarten C in the city of D. In this experiment, the children of the experimental group participated in the exploration activities for art elements two times a week for 8 weeks, 16 times in total, on 4 outdoor spaces of the apartments. The comparison group did just walk around at the same outdoor spaces without any exploration activities for the art elements. MANCOVA was carried out to analyze the statistical significance of the difference between two groups after the pre- and post-test. The result of this study showed the significant differences between the experimental and the comparison group. It is concluded that the exploration activities of art elements existing at daily life have positive effects on improving the art expression of young children. |
