A rock on the road
Once upon a time, there was a wise king. He wanted to rule the country well, but sometimes he thought his people only liked to talk, but didn't work hard enough. The king wanted to find someone who could help him do many things.
He had a huge rock placed on a roadway. Then he did himself and watched to see if anyone would move the rock. Some of the king's highest men and richest people came by but just walked around it. Many people loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear, but no one did anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a farmer came along, carrying a bag of vegetables. When he came near the rock, the farmer put down his bag and tried to move the rock to the side of the road.
After much pushing, the farmer finally succeeded. After he picked up his bag of vegetables, he saw a big gold coin and a letter lying on the road where the rock had been. The letter read, "This coin is for the person who moved the rock from the roadway. And you're the kind of person I'm looking for. Please come to palace."
The king found a good man, and the farmer learned a good lesson many of us never learn. When you think something is in your way, you can use it as a chance to improve your situation.
