What comes to mind when think about Foreign Workers in korea?
We can easily think South East Asians, Chinese, or Mongolian because there are many those people in Korea. And we can think poverty because most workers came korea because of poverty of their country or family. Also, we can think Ansan industrial complex. There are most foreign workers and most of them work in called 3D job (dangerous, dirty, difficult). Few years ago, there was TV program 'Asia Asia.' This program made foreign worker meet his family by inviting them. That program is so impressive.
As Korean economy developed, many foreign workers came to Korea for money. However, there are violations of human rights of foreign workers because of inferior systems and policy of a manpower supply and demand. Also, in Korea, there are prejudices to people who are from underdeveloped countries, and it makes these violations.
Our group hopes to disappear of these prejudices and violations, so researches about foreign workers in Korea and thinks solutions to protect their own rights.

● 앵커： 우리나라의 외국인 노동자들의 인권이 심각하게 침해당하고 있다고 세계 나라들 가운데 유일하게 국제인권단체로부터 우리가 지적을 받았습니다.

● 기자： 석 달 전 여수 출입국관리사무소의 외국인 보호소에서 불이 나 강제출국을 앞둔 외국인 １０명이 숨졌습니다. 그런가 하면 외국인 노동자들은 범죄피해를 당하고도 강제출국을 우려해 경찰에 신고하지 못한다는 점을 노려 이들을 대상으로 한 강도가 최근 기승을 부리고 있습니다.
마침내 국제사회가 우리나라의 외국인 노동자 인권문제를 도마 위에 올렸습니다. 국제인권단체인 엠네스티는 어제 발표한 연례보고에서 우리나라의 대표적인 인권침해 사례로 이주노동자 문제를 꼽았습니다.
