*The alcoholic problem started before marriage so it would be more than 10years.

*If she get agitated, finding alcohol which she hid before even if she promised her son to quit drinking.

- Son (Travor Mckinney) : 11years /M
- Mom (Arlene Mckinney) : about 30years /F
(The mom`s age isn`t exactly stated in the movie.)

- Travor`s maternal grandmother is alcoholic.
It means that Trevor`s mom can have gene which is highly depended on alcohol.

The son refused to talk with his mom because she drink alcohol even if he hated it. So they couldn`t talk about assignment which Mr. Simonet gave to their students. Therefore the mom went to school to ask about the assignment.
* Mom and son have conflicted with father who committed violence to them.
He kicked the his son's door, because Travor did not even look at him after his returning.
- family`s leadership should have given to the mom but it couldn`t because the son was so premature.
* Ground lines about prematurity:
a. The mom said that she made mistake after slapping the son`s face.
Then the son comforted his mom with he saying everyone can make mistake.
b. When Travor have interviewed with reporter, he looks like an adult..
(That kind of speech makes him different from his peer group)
c. Travor telephone for a taxi when the mom late for date with Mr. Simonet.
d. Traor usually do kitchen work(ex. making meals&washing the dishes) instead of his mom.
· Family coping and emotional strategies
- Mom's coping strategies : a. Emotional.
(She slapped her son`s face when she get angry.)
*After slapped her son on the cheek, her got a shock.
b. She usually depended on alcohol.
*After she drunk alcohol, she fell asleep immediately.
- Son's defense mechanism : Selective inattention.
*Travor closed the door and turned up the volume on radio when he heard their parents fighting with each other.
· Child-rearing and discipline practices.
- Rearing: a. Noninterference → because his mom couldn`t take care of him most time to work outside.
*When mom came back home, her son already fell asleep.
Travor needs more care from mom.
b. Punitive interaction → mom slap son's face when they argued.
- Discipline: Fair → she acknowledged her fault(slapping son`s face) and hugged him for apologizing.
