Nowadays, the internet became an important factor in which neologism is produced. In the survey of Koreans, almost all participants who were in their teens or twenties know most of the words included in the questionnaire which often are used in the internet. The internet is useful to communicate with many people, directly. So, through the internet attitudes of teens and those in twenties become hasty and active. Most of the words which they use are made by contraction. This abbreviation of words is called "jargon". The purpose of making jargons is the efficiency of language. For quick conversations, people contract a long sentence to a short word like ‘정줄놓’, ‘흠좀무’, 'LMAO' and 'AFX'. It can be compared with slang which functions as meaning rather than as technic. Before the development of technology, slang was more common than jargon because accuracy of meaning was more important than efficiency of language.(It related to Violeta) This pattern has changed by the environment.(It related to Sherif)Nowadays people make more jargons since we live in the world of "quickness". And people influenced by this environment are young men rather than old men. This reason is why young generation's proportion of jargon is bigger than old generation. Besides the rate of borrowing words from foreign nation is increasing. It is because of the expansion of international communication. Some languages affect other languages and this fact derives borrowing words in order to define new concept. So, borrowing word needs to be used at first by the people who can speak foreign language and usually they are adults rather than teens. In the research, we found that most of old generation knows some borrowing words like ‘로하스’, ‘메트로섹슈얼’. In contrast, the teen participants don't know these words.
Gender is also an important influential factor on neologism. In the result of third question, there are clear differences between male and female. Most men wrote their interest, 'game', 'alcohol' and someone said 'soccer'. On the other hand, women wrote totally different things such as 'waffle', 'shop' and someone said 'diet'. This come from difference in interests. Besides the word ‘짬’, in the second question, shows how the surroundings of two genders affect people of different sex. The females who participated in our survey wrote meaning of ‘짬’ as 'free time'. In contrast to this, Almost all males wrote that as 'meal of army'. It is not related to interest. Environment makes man know this word.(It is related to Sherif) In addition, women call menstruation as 'magic'. For male, this word means 'supernatural power'.(there are so many words, but because of the fact that we are male, we don't know many) So, given frames(of society or biology) make neologism.
In the questionnaire in English, our intention was to find out the difference between native and non-native, also between American and British. First question asks about the word that they know. Its aim is to find out where the word is used. Most non-natives don't know these words. Because these words are acquired by studying standard English and obviously they have meanings which only natives know, non-natives would not know these words unless they had joined a group of native speakers in the past.
After the analysis of survey, we found a surprising and interesting result. It is that some British people know more American slangs than British slangs. Throughout the process of research, we found that american slangs are more common in the internet and of much in use for international communication of English. British words are just in their boundary and most
