Introduction

Suggested Problem - 21st century paradigm of industrial society is changing

Korea continues with economic growth, development and trade surplus despite the superficial external dependence. It is increasing its vulnerability to the external environment while the economic structure has changed. In addition to globalization in a rapidly aging nation, and women's expanding participation in the labor market, there are variations in the labor market. The realization of equal social welfare, the establishment of industrial democracy and a self-labor movement, shows conflicting industrial relations characterized by recurring extreme duress as yearly strikes in the industry remains a problem to be solved. In the eve of the 21st century digital economy there is growing need for a new construction.

Importance of Subject – Korea as a turning point

Korea's industrial development was in a relatively short period. The development of labor-management relations had in fact started the industrialization since the 1960s, and over 30 years substantial progress had been thorough. However, in such a short period of time, the political environment in Korea did not developed as much as the industry's growth. Currently the new world economic order is being reorganized. Korea, while maintaining the peace of the industry, should raise the competitiveness of enterprises. Above all, the importance of the role of labor and industrial relations system is needed for Korea’s situation to settle down while maintaining national competitiveness as a shortcut to success.

Development Direction - Labor relations in Korea should be pursued

As environmental change occur surrounding the tripartite task for cooperation in national competitiveness, improvement of labor market flexibility, employment stability, industrial cooperation and support for workplace innovation system can be summarize. Korea will aim for labor stability and competitive union institutions on par with Europe. However, to ensure participation in the management of enterprise-level institutional conditions, this tripartite system needs to operate effectively and to maximize the ability to highlight key issues. Therefore, the competitiveness of labor-management relations in the future and the value of social integration should be achieved at the same time. In an open market economy future industrial relations changes in Korea is required within the current polarization in Korean society. This also requires strategies for overcoming conflict.
