2. Increase of Divorce
Household economy can be maintained through the support and sharing responsibility of the both side of the couple, therefore the loss of one side must get domestic economic worse than before divorce. Holden and Smock(1991) said that women’s standard of living clearly declines after divorce, and Weitzman showed among low income household, income decreased by 29%.
Because the breadwinner is mostly male in Korea, women suffer from more economical hardship than men do.
- Change of relationships
Relationship between parents and adult children are affected by divorce. Divorced couple gets old without spouse for help and support so that the role of the children becomes important.
