- The very first body shop opened on 26 March 1976 in Brighton. ( 25 hand-mixed naturally-inspired products using minimal packaging)
- In 1978, first overseas franchise opened in Brussels.
- First international cosmetic brand to be awarded the Humane Cosmetics Standard for its Against Animal Testing policy.
- Since May 2008, The Body Shop has been led by Sophie Gasperment.
