To grasp the meaning of enterprise ethics, we need to clarify the relationship of the corporate culture, business ethics and corporate law with the enterprise ethics. Enterprise culture is a code of conduct which enterprise members should observe together, and also it is a value orientation of the enterprise which is shared by the enterprise members. The enterprise culture is the main point of the enterprise value, which reflects the company's basic concepts and beliefs. Enterprise ethics reflects the business’s value judgments "goodness and evil". Therefore, enterprise ethics is the core of enterprise culture.
Enterprise rules embodied the requirements of a society to the enterprises and the volition of the enterprise manager, and it will have the enforceability and the externality; but the enterprise ethics relies on the internal beliefs to do the effect, it has the consciousness and internality. Currently, what generally acknowledged the corporate social responsibility concept is: when enterprise is creating profits and be in charge of the benefits of the shareholders, it also bears the responsibility on the staff, on the social and environmental, including complying with the business ethics, safety, occupational health, also it needs to protect the workers’ legitimate rights and interests, saving resources, and to get in the economic, social, environmental and other areas of sustainable development.
The two concepts, enterprise ethics and the social responsibility of business maybe are similar. However, social responsibility is more wide concept, not only including the moral behaviors of business but also all the other contributions made to
