III. Conclusion
1) Summary and Suggestion
As adolescents who are trying to suicide are getting increased, our group focused on dealing with this urgent problem by using REBT. Many adolescents are coping with suicide attempt passively and inappropriately. Thus, in the role-play, REBT helped clients block the self-defeating beliefs that are reinforced by a process of self-indoctrination. In Korea session, a client(응준) learned how to replace old and ineffective thoughts and behaviors with new and effective ones. Also, in America session, a client(Rachel) learned how to modify her dysfunctional belief, attitudes and assumptions. Then, they put newly acquired insights into action. In order to do this, clients are required to do homework or some tasks such as making the list of why they want to live or what they want to do if they don’t die. In addition to REBT, an assumption of RT is that the problem is the way they are choosing to behave. A basic goal of RT is to help clients learn better ways of fulfilling all of their needs such as love and belonging, power or achievement, freedom or independence, and fun.
