Interview analysis
First interviewer is a 7th public servant in Daejeon region government. She is 32years old and worked since 2005. She said public servants have various characteristics. Not all the people have special motivation, but some of public servants have it. They are very keen at their task and have sense of duty. They are always worried if they make some mistake, citizens will take inconvenience and losses. So their attitudes are always serious to pursue perfectness.
About the relation between policy-decision and motivation, she showed negative attitude. She said it would be meaningful if her thinking is reflected in the policy. But in reality, policy-decision is far from her task. And someone force to participate, public servants will resist about it. The public-servants worked in front line, look similar with ordinary people. They not specially support governments’ policy making.
She was not participating public business like volunteering and charity fund currently. Some of her co-workers participate it but not all public servants have sense of duty at public business. They think it is just a personal habit. Many public servants go to volunteering periodically and got worthwhile with happiness. But no one force to participate compulsory.
But she acknowledged public servants interest about local community. She is also a local officer and most of her tasks are related with region incidents. So it is natural local public servants sensitive at local community. On the other hands, intention about politics can't make bond of sympathy. All the public officers have their personal preference about the politic tendency. But there were no common stream in politic intention between public servants.
She said public servants don't have enough adaptability at outer society. Public servants can only survive in public sector. Most of workers in private sector change their job often. Public servants are not specialized workers like doctors or accountants, and also not general adapters. The most serious problem is public servants always follow their rigid paradigm.
Our interviewer isn’t a mom yet and she answered public servant is a good job; proper pays, not hard workings, secured later years with pensions, and stability of the job. It is
