The virus particle (25-30 nm) has and icosahedral capsid made of protein(figure 1), without envelope, containing a single-strand of ribonucleic acid(ssRNA) containing a positive encoding of its genome.[3] This positive-sense ssRNA is genome of approximately 8,400 nucleotides.[4] The virus capsid is made up from 60 copies each of four virus-encoded proteins, VP1 to VP4; VP1 to VP3 form most of the capsid shell, with VP4 lining the interior surface.[5]
