Ⅰ. Introduction
Not only has homicide long been considered the most brutal crime but the cost of homicide is also so high that many governments and researchers try to find out how to reduce it. In fact, those studies have mainly focused on developed countries such as the U.S. even though it is more of a concern for developing and least developed countries as their security systems are not as established as others. A study of homicide, if any, will help those countries enhance their welfare considerably.
The purpose of this project is, therefore, to apprehend which factors affect the homicide rates in developing countries and how to efficiently control them. For the analysis, we first selected 91 developing countries. Since there are countless possible variables which can have an effect on the rates and we are not sure which of them can best account for the homicide rates, we decide to collect the data as much as possible and compare each variable by selection procedures. Finally, we will suggest what factors should be taken care of for developing countries in order to control their homicide rates.
