OLED
:Organic Light Emitting Diode

Organic means…
→Electroluminescent layer is
:a film of organic compound
(ex. C2, H2, O2, other polymers)
not semiconductor →used in LED


1.Self-luminescence
The biggest difference between LCD is that it is self-luminescence. It means that the diode can emit the light itself so it has the good visibility although there is light coming in from outside.
2. low power consumption, Ultra-thin
Since it doesn't need the backlight it's possible to produce OLED device having low power consumption(half of LCD) and ultra-thin screen(1/3 of LCD, below 2mm thickness is possible)
3. Flexibility
It can be applicable to the curved shape part.
4. Eco-friendly
It is eco-friendly since it doesn't contain the toxic substances such as Hg.
5. Wide viewing angle
Viewing angle is the range of oblique angle which we can see the normal screen. Unlike LCD, the image quality doesn't change though it is seen from just beside.
6. Fast response speed
If we play moving images, the quality of the screen is determined by the response speed. OLED shows natural screen of the moving images which have the similar level with that of the television.
