◈Introduction◈

Recently, our society is getting diverse. Many people on the world recognize the multi-characteristic of each person’s diversity. Among these is sexual diversity. “American sexual law and the United States Constitution were barely acquainted forty years.” (Cantor, 2006, preface) ) American sexual law and the U.S. Constitution’s recognition and acquaintance on the issue of homosexuality and same-sex marriage were not until recently. Before then, marriage was between a man and a woman; it was solid. However, in recent days, due to growing population of homosexuals, homosexuality and same-sex marriage have suddenly thrown into sharp focus. Yet, it is a controversial and unresolved issue. The reason for the soaring numbers of homosexuals in recent days is unclear, but what is clear is that different nations, states, societies, groups, and individuals hold different view with respect to homosexuality and same-sex marriage. In this paper, the factual data, the possible hardships that homosexuals face, pros and cons of same-sex marriage, and social welfare values with regard to the issue of same-sex marriage would be investigated and presented.
