2. Types of cell division
Prokaryotes reproduce by a type of cell division ccalled binary fission. In typical prokaryotes, most genes are carried on a circular DNA molecule that, associated protein, constitutes the organism's single chromosome. Although prokayotic chromosomes are much smaller than those of eukaryotes, duplicating them in an orderly fashion and distributing the copies equally to two daughter bacteria is still a formidable task.
eukaryotic cells are more complex and generally much larger than prokaryotic cells, and they have many more genes. The eukaryotic chromosome has a much more complex structure than prokaryotic chromosome. Well before a eukaryotic cell begins to divide, it duplicates all of its chromosomes. The result is that each chromosome now consist of two copies called sister chromatids, which contain identical copies of the DNA molecule. once seperated from its sister,
