한국교회사의 諸問題 중 소재와 Contents의 확장문제는 백낙준 박사의 ‘한국개신교사’를 기준으로 그 다음시기에 서술되었던 한국교회사를 비교하여 소재와 Contents가 대동소이함을 살펴보았다. 그렇다면, 백낙준 박사의 서술에 있어서 그 기준이 되었던 것은 무엇이었는가? 그 기준의 기원을 찾아보기 위해서 George Heber Jones와 Hay A. Rhodes, D. D.의 교회사 서술 관련 책의 목차를 그대로 적어 보았다. Jones 같은 경우에는 200페이지나 되는 한국교회사 강의집이 남아있었는데, 그 목차와 강의 목적을 살펴보면 다음과 같다.

A review of the events which have led to the establishment of the Korean Church, showing the geographical, historical and religious background against which the Church stands outlined, and the events which marked the early occupation of the land by the Christian forces.
The rise of the church in Seoul, and its advance in the interior, with a discussion of the changing social status of the Christian: the problem of the new ethical life introduced by Christianity: the development and type of the new christian ministry which has arisen in the korean Church; the revival which challenged the attention of persecution as exemplified in the korean Church to the plan and development of life.
The four final lectures will deal with the relation of the church to the new Christian community, and to national destiny, reviewing the very remarkable and significant chapter in the relations of the church to korea as evidenced in the Conspiracy Trial, and the future of the korean church as under its present day leadership it advances to the solution of its problems.
