Therefore, we guessed that the elderly would not be satisfied with the current fashion market to express themselves in a various way with clothing and they will need more fashionable clothing as their social life is expanding and become more important.
Ⅱ. Activity
1. Interview
November 5, 2004 At Silver College
In the process of this group project, we interviewed two old women classified into two parts, involving in social work and not to see what do they think of clothing for themselves. The first old woman was in Sung-buk Public Health Center. She is 75 years old, isnt educated highly and doesnt involve in social work. She usually prepare a meal for her husband. But the other old woman involves in social life. We met her in the Sung-buk dong Silver college. She is 82 years old. But she looked younger than her age. She has graduation from high school. And now she is learning to dance in silver college.
According to these features, the differences between these two women comes up. At first, the first woman wears only clothing given by a daughter-in-law. But the second woman purchases her clothing by herself when she sees clothing to her tastes. Second, the first woman likes a single color and white. However her daughter-in-law usually buys yellow or red colored clothing. She doesnt like them but cant tell these to her daughter-in-law. The second woman usually wears dark colored dress like other old women. But she likes gay costume and floral designed costume. And she wants to wear a short upper garment like young people. Third, both of them have many earrings and rings. They dont use these because they think these are annoying to them. But the second woman uses bag for her outfit. So she said she change bag according to the outfit. Then we asked some questions to know the interest in dress. The first woman didnt have any interest in dress. Whereas the second woman explained her favorite style in detail and had interest in a place to purchase clothe.
From this, we could notice that there is an evident difference between an old woman involving a social work and not. An old woman involving a social work is more interested in clothing and her appearance. Thus as the number of the elderly involving a social work is increasing today, the number of the elderly interested in clothing will crease. So we think that today the elderlys clothing is more important than before.
