The man, handsome, cruel-looking, rises up behind her, enters her, kisses her neck. Catherine half closes her eyes. She rotates her pelvis gently against his thrusting.

Napoleons room at Valence. It is filled with books,
mostly of military subjects, but well-stocked with poetry,
history and philosophy. He is reading by candlelight.
Outside we hear the sounds of revelry produced by less
conscientious officers.

flaps free. The blades are gone. The TITLES END, and
everything goes silent.
CAMERA CIRCLES until TINAs looking right into our eyes. The
light from a nearby boiler pours through her thin night dress,
leaving her naked and vulnerable. Then a deep, ragged VOICE
whispers at her as CAMERA CLOSES IN ON HER FACE.
VOICE (O.S.)

TINA opens her mouth to scream but only a
flaps against its chest cavity. Its hurriedly
scrawled message reads: TAKE ME, LORD! I LOVE YOU!
THE ROPE BREAKS suddenly and THE CORPSE FALLS out of frame.

Were at GROUND LEVEL now...SMACK!!! THE CORPSE HITS THE
PAVEMENT and SHATTERS as though made of potters clay. BONES
bounce over a wide area. THE SIGN is carried off by the WIND.

unzip a flap and hike up a ragged hood against the rain. She stops to watch the grave diggers pack up and EXIT b.g.
