During the time of ancient era, middle ages, and to the modern time, it was always clear that prostitutes were in the crowded streets where many people come and go. Often times they also were in the ferries, stations, shrine and posts where Buddhist temple was. Unlike them, Murono gimi were the prostitutes who lived near by the ‘Mur
meijiera (1868-1912) geishas were only women who could contact with other people so it seemed to foreigners that geishas are representatives of Japanese women. And well known Puccini’s opera ‘Madame Butterfly’ played an important role in geishas becoming famous worldwide.
At the 40-s geisha houses were prohibited by law so many of them went for work to factories or industrial field. A
