A tropical morning sun paints its luster on the sea-chop. A
helicopter hurtles across the Pacific Ocean.

INT. HELICOPTER - SAME TIME
NORMAN GOODMAN, 50s, a days growth of beard and eyes sandy
with sleep, wakes up. Adj
manipulated by two HUMAN CREW MEMBERS. Wearily,
they lean the legs up against the stage wall. A human
DIRECTOR, wearing a tweed jacket and baggy pleated pants,
steps onto the set. From the equipment and the dress of the
crew, we can tell its the 1940s. Baby Herman throws his
cookie down in disgust. He talks in a gravelly voice an
octave lower than Wallace Beerys.

manipulates the controls. On another screen
we see them cut to STOCK NEWS FOOTAGE: regular cockroaches,
crawling on garbage.
ANCHORMAN
Blattida Germanica. The common
cockroach.

EXT. OUTSIDE VAN - CITY HALL - DUSK
The runner exits the News Van. Other such vehicles parked
nearby. A CROWD of ONLOOKERS, REPORTERS and a gaggle of
PROTESTERS
dart about suspiciously, the ever-
watchful Sal.
There is a watchful reserve in Sal that contrasts to Sonnys
outgoing bounciness: first impression is Sonny is all bark;
Sal is the bite. Sal is dressed in impressive blue suit
style, he looks like a kid trying to impress the Godfather.
He even wears a hat. Now, matching Sals preparations
inside the car, he checks his ties alignment, shoots his
cuff

The hanging sign says Entering Cherry Falls, Ohio
We see Cherry Falls - A small town in rural Northeastern Ohio. This is
Norman Rockwell land, red barns on dirt roads, a square in the center of
town. But things are hidden here. The barns are locked, the shades are
drawn.

A
