INT. BEDROOM CORSICA - NIGHT
A well worn teddy-bear is cradled in the arms of Napoleon,
age 4, who dreamily sucks his thumb, listening to a
bedtime story told by his young mother, Letizia. His 5-
year old brother, Joseph, is already asleep, beside him.

BLACKNESS
1 THE ELECTRONIC WORLD 1
On one side of the screen, computer programming language is being
printed, and we HEAR the sound of an electronic keyboard. In the
center of the screen, glowing lines inscribe a rough computer
simulation of a figure, in response to the
Riders on horseback cross the desert. From this distance they appear to be a company of Army Cavalry Soldiers.
CLOSER ANGLES ON THE RIDERS
Reveal only details of saddles, hooves and uniforms. The riders are silhouetted against the rising sun as they ride into an ancient CLIFF PUEBLO.
The OFFICER IN COMMAND raises his hand halting his troops.
OFFICER
Dis-mount!
RIDERS climb down from their mounts.

EARLY DRAFT
Out of BLACK we hear the sound of an airplane roaring by.
EXT. POV OF AN AIRPLANE
Flying over American heartland. We see the earth through the
pilots perspective as sky and ground swap positions, the
plane swooping down and storming over the ground.
THE PLANE
is a biplane, racing over a field lush with young plants. It
releases a trail of crop spray, an
"BATMAN RETURNS"
1 INT. A STUFFY MANSION--A NIGHT ABOUT FORTY YEARS AGO 1
The viewer floats through an overbearing mansion and
up its sweeping staircase to where a stern man in
conservative dress is pacing back and forth, smoking a
cigarette in a cigarette holder. He is the FATHER. The
throes-of-labor pants and moans of the MOTHER can be
heard from down the hall.
Now, eerie Gaas and Goos chill th
SAM ACE ROTHSTEIN, a tall, lean, immaculately dressed man approaches his car, opens the door, and gets inside to turn on the ignition.
ACE: (Voice-over) When you love someone, youve gotta trust them. Theres no other way. Youve got to give them the key to everything thats yours. Otherwise, whats the point? And, for a while . . . I believed thats the kind of love I had.
(Suddenly, the car explode
Silent and endless. The stars shine like the love of God... cold and remote. Against them drifts a tiny chip of technology.
CLOSER SHOT
It is the NARCISSUS, lifeboat of the ill-fated star-freighter Nostromo. Without interior or running lights it seems devoid of life. The PING of a RANGING RADAR grows louder, closer. A shadow engulfs the Narcissus. Searchlights flash on, playing over the tiny ship
The camera is moving toward an Indian city. We are high and far away, only the sound of the wind as we grow nearer and nearer, and through the passing clouds these words appear:
No mans life can be encompassed in one telling. There is no way to give each year its allotted weight, to include each event, each person who helped to shape a lifetime. What can be done is to be faithful in spirit to the
