A NIGHT SKY

Ominous black clouds roll across the heavens. THUNDER begins
to RUMBLE within the clouds. An unsettling feeling of
approaching danger.

VARIOUS FOREST SHOTS

Deep shadowed woods. A quiet breeze rustles some dry leaves.
NOISY CRICKETS. Some unseen creature runs through the bush.
THE CRICKETS STOP.

EXT. FOREST ROAD - NIGHT

Its the pigeons.
Sharpening their beaks
on the window sill.
- [ Sighs ]

The boys FACE CONTORTS, turning into something half-human,

to frighten Catherine, but she cocks her head...

The creature sticks its tongue out and DIVES.

EXT. CENTRAL PARK WEST. EARLY EVENING.
Ripley shakes hands with Herbert Greenleaf as he gets into
his Rolls Royce. They are making an appointment. Ripley
crosses the street to Fran, pecks her cheek. She hands him

RUMBLE is heard.
Suddenly we are covered in DARKNESS as the SHADOW engulfs us.
Only the lonely image of our EARTH hangs in the air, until a
huge silhouetted OBJECT suddenly blocks our view.

EXT. NEW MEXICO - RADIO TELESCOPE VALLEY - NIGHT
A field of large satellite dishes scan the skies.
Super up: S.E.T.I. INSTITUTE, NEW MEXICO
INT. INSTITUTE - MONITORING CONTROL CENTER - SAME
A lone TECH
ripple and rumble as it runs down the deck towards the stern.
EXT. BOAT - NIGHT - STERN
A stack of oil drums rests on the stern. They are stacked on a palette with ropes at each corner that attach it to a huge crane on the dock. One of the barrels has been punctured at its base. Gasoline trickles freely from the hole.
The flame is racing now towards the barrels. Keaton smiles weakly to himself.
NOISES OF BRUTAL COMBAT.
