대통령중심제는 정부조직상 대통령이 국가의 대표인 동시에, 행정부의 수반으로서 그 권한을 행사하는 제도이다. 또한 대통령중심제는 엄격한 3권 분립의 원리에 기초를 둔 3권간의 상호 균형과 견제관계를 유지하는 정치제도이다.
