있어 기본 요소인 전력과 냉각시설, 상면(바닥 면적)에 대한 것으로, 증가하는 서버, 스토리지, 네트워킹 장비를 수용하기 위해 지금보다 훨씬 많은 바닥 면적과 전력을 필요로 한다. 또한 하드웨어 설계가 변화됨에 따라 더 많은 에너지 요구에 대처하기 위해 설비 구성요소의 변화를 필요로 한다.
