1. Introduction
1) Why we choose Google Wave
Concurrency control technology lets all people on a wave edit rich media at the same time. Google Wave is a personal communication and collaboration tool announced by Google at the Google I/O conference on May 27, 2009. It is a web-based service, computing platform, and communications protocol designed to merge e-mail, instant messaging, wikis, and social networking.
It has a strong collaborative and real-time focus supported by extensions that can provide, for example, robust spelling/grammar checking, automated translation between 40 languages, and numerous other extensions. Initially released only to developers, a "preview release" of Google Wave has been extended to about 100,000 users on September 30, 2009.
So, we decided to promote Google Wave since it has just released and not promoted yet.
2) What is Google Wave?
Basically, Google Wave is an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. It helps users communicate on the web. A wave can be both a conversation and a document where people can discuss and work together.
It is also a platform with a rich set of open APIs that allow developers to embed waves in other web services and to build extensions that work inside waves.
Google Wave is currently available in a developer preview as the APIs and product continue to evolve. Accounts on the developer sandbox will be given out to people intending to build with the Google Wave APIs prior to the public release.
